Cognitive Games

    A brilliant point-and-click game with outstanding graphics. Journey through strange worlds while testing and strengthening nonverbal reasoning abilities.
  2. Blockout
    Blockout is another great game that develops visual-spatial skills, planning, attention, and visual processing.
  3. Set
    Set is a great card game that now offers some free online challenges.  Even the New York Times now offers Set challenges.  This game develops visual processing, sequential processing, planning, and also time management when playing with others.  Consider purchasing the card game as it is a blast to play with others.
  4. The Hardest Game in the World
    This is a great but very challenging game that strengthens visual-spatial skills, fine motor dexterity, planning, and patience. 
  5. Parking frenzy
    This is a game with great graphics that will help you to develop spatial relations, planning, and patience.
  6. Head Spin Story Book
    This is another fun game by addicting games that has great graphics.  It develops spatial skills and visual processing skills.
  7. Free coloring pages
    This site has some fun educational games.  Simon, a memory strengthening activity is great.  To access select kid games.  Then select Simon, under the heading Arcade Games
  8. Guess the Colors (just like Mastermind)
    A great game to improve sequential processing and nonverbal reasoning.

  1. Khan Academy Kids This is app is amazing, fun, and comprehensive.  It's worth downloading for your kids!
  2. Word Wall Games: Play the large selection of games created by teachers or create your own games with the academic content that needs to be learned.
  3. Quizlet:  This site was created to help students with academic content through flashcards, practice tests, and fun games.
  4. Quizzez: This is another online site that turns test preparation into a game.
  5. FreeRice
    Freerice.com can help improve vocabulary.  They also have other activities that can develop other academic areas such as Chemistry, languages, art, and geography.  FreeRice is a non-profit website run by the United Nations World Food Program.  FreeRice has two goals: 1) Provide education to everyone for free.
    2) Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.

  1. Counting Strategy Game
    This YouTube video offers a free demonstration and tutorial on how to play a fun numbers game with a deck of cards.  I really like this game, because it also requires players to think ahead which requires executive functioning skills and working memory.
  2. Alien Addition
    This is a fun game that lets you practice addition by shooting at spaceships.
  3. JetSki Addition  Speed up addition facts with this fun game that involves jet skis. 
  4. Minus Mission
    This is a fun game that lets you practice subtraction by shooting at slime.
  5. Island Chase Subtraction  Be the fastest to answer subtraction problems and win a jet ski race around islands.
  6. Genius Boxing
    In Genius Boxing, you must defeat Albert Einstein, Pythagoras, Galileo, Bill Gates, Leonardo da Vinci, Nicholas Copernicus, Archimedes, and Sir Isaac Newton in boxing using your basic math skills.
  7. Decimals of Caribbean This is a fun game to practice decimal placement.
  8. Place Value Pirates
    This is a wonderful game that assists students in learning place value in mathematics.
  9. Rounding Spaceships
    This game helps you practice rounding numbers to the nearest ten.            
  10. Fraction Fun
    Figure out the fractions by looking at the images.
  11. Mixed Numbers
    Practice converting mixed numbers to improper fractions. There are several chances to answer each problem before a new problem is given.
  12. Percents to Decimals
    This offers multiple-choice options when converting percents to decimals.
  13. Algebra Factoring
    This is a game by Quia that will allow you to practice factoring algebra equations by playing a game similar to Do You Want to Be a Millionaire.

    This is an excellent, free beginners typing game by BBC.
  2. Rollercoaster Typing Game  This is a fun way to challenge students at different touch typing levels and the graphics are really cool.
  3. Dragon Island Typing Game This is a fun way to challenge students at different touch typing levels and the graphics are really cool.
  4. RataType  This site will help improve both typing speed and keyboarding skills. Students can pass a wpm test, earn typing certificates and receive instant feedback on their performance. The site even offers free typing lessons and exercises.
  5. Typing Club Is geared towards older kids - tweens, teens (and adults). It begins with a typing assessment, guides the student through proper finger and hand placement, and is sequentially organized. The first 22 lessons are free and thereafter the charge is $8/month. 
  6. Typing Master - Keyman This is a fun packman game that can help you to learn the location of keys on the keyboard.
  7. Martian City Defender
    This game helps kids to locate the letters.  They have to type in the string of letters to hit down the attacking flying saucers.
  8. Meteor Typing Blast
    This game helps kids to locate the letters.  They have to type in the string of letters to hit down the oncoming meteors.
  9. Frogs are Off Their Diet
    This game helps kids to locate the letters.  They have to type in the string of letters to hit down the oncoming bugs before they disappear.

    This is a game that helps you to learn the location of all the keys.  It does involve shooting down bombs that have letters on them before they hit the city.  If you don't like the energy of this game, please pick another game.
